This summer Shalom Center assisted the Diocese of Brownsville by conducting psychological interviews and assessments on 58 candidates for the permanent diaconate program of the diocese. The assessments and interviews were held on-site in the Brownsville Diocese by three ShalomCenter psychologists, Sister Barbara Woody, our clinical coordinator, and by Dr. Patricia Reed and Dr. Eileen Barbella, psychologists who are on staff at Shalom Center.
The comprehensive assessment and interviewing took several days of each psychologist’s work and resulted in a full written report on each man aspiring to the permanent diaconate.
The evaluation work is a continuation of the previous assessment work done by Shalom Center for seminary candidates and candidates for the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter which is headquartered here in Houston at Our Lady of Walsingham.
